Installing the ClientWindow Microsoft Teams Add-In

This guide explains how an IT administrator can deploy the ClientWindow Microsoft Teams add-in using the

Microsoft Teams Admin Center. The ClientWindow app also includes a Microsoft Teams bot used to notify

users of new WhatsApp messages via the Teams Activity feed. Bot access must be approved at tenant level

for notifications to function.

Prerequisites

• Global Administrator or Teams Administrator permissions

• Microsoft Teams enabled for users

• Users licensed for Microsoft 365 with Teams access

Step-by-Step Installation

1. Sign in to Teams Admin Center
   1. Go to admin.teams.microsoft.com and sign in with an administrator account.
2. Open Teams apps
   1. Navigate to Teams apps ® Manage apps.
3. Locate the ClientWindow App
   1. Search for “ClientWindow” and select the ClientWindow Teams app.
4. Allow the App
   1. Ensure the app status is set to Allowed. If blocked, change the status to Allowed.
5. Approve Bot Access
   1. Within the ClientWindow app details, approve the associated Teams bot for your tenant. This is required for WhatsApp message notifications to appear in the Teams Activity feed.
6. Assign App Setup Policy
   1. Go to Teams apps ® Setup policies and select the policy applied to your users.
7. Add ClientWindow to Installed Apps
   1. Add ClientWindow under Installed apps.
8. Optional: Pin the App
   1. Add ClientWindow to Pinned apps to display it by default in the Teams app bar.
9. Save and Apply
   1. Save the policy changes and allow time for propagation.

What Users Will See

Once deployed and bot access is approved, users will receive notifications for new WhatsApp messages via

the Teams Activity bell. The ClientWindow app will also be accessible within Teams according to the

assigned policy.

Deployment Timing

Most changes take effect within 15–60 minutes. In some cases, policy propagation may take up to 24 hours.
